COVID-19 cases still exist in St. Maarten. Many foreign insurers don't cover isolation costs if you test positive and tend to restrict COVID-19 coverage if and when the CDC or your country's Public Health Department issues a high (negative) travel warning.
You can pay for the insurance using a credit card or a debit card with the Visa or MasterCard logo on it. Residents of the Netherlands can use iDEAL to pay for the insurance.
After you've made the purchase you will see a payment made to Koral Systems under the title KS* STMAARTEN-INSURE01 (Previously KORALINSURE* SXM-00001). The last digits indicate the transaction number.
The maximum possible period of insurance allowed under this plan is 90 successive days. However, every time you leave the island, you are required to purchase a new policy to re-enter St. Maarten.
If you’re already in St. Maarten and you have a fever, dry cough, shortness of breath, loss of smell or taste, or a combination of any of the known COVID-19 symptoms, please inform guest relations at your hotel so they can call the COVID-19 Call Center. If you’re not staying at a hotel, please proceed to call the COVID-19 Call Center at 914.
In some cases the service provider will bill insurers directly. However, if a service provider asks you to pay a bill or advance a payment or have any questions simply contact the claims department at claims@sxmprotectionplan.com.
You can complete the online insurance application and instantly receive an email with your policy documents attached.
The first version of the St. Maarten Visitors Protection Plan only covers COVID-19 related expenses.
The coverage provided under this insurance starts the moment you disembark in St. Maarten and expires the moment you embark a plane to leave St. Maarten. There is not coverage if you overstay the maximum duration of stay allowed. The maximum period of coverage is 90 successive days.
